About Me

hi, I'm David

I am a Brooklyn-based photographer and designer. I like angles, symmetry, smiling faces, and vivid colors. Some of my favorite subjects include architecture and nature scenes—the sun setting over the water, a quiet wooded landscape, or a field of brightly-colored flowers.

When I'm not holding a camera or working on a design project I enjoy playing video games; I'm happy with both old classics or new favorites. I am a former gymnast turned capoeirista, I enjoy word games, especially crossword puzzles and anagrams, and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen trying out new recipes and honing my culinary chops.

I love studying languages and traveling abroad.
I enjoy anime and have taught myself a lot of Japanese, as well as some Portuguese, French, and Italian. In addition to that I'm now working on Russian and Greek. So far, learning the Cyrillic and Greek alphabets has proven the most difficult.

7 Things About Me

  1. I love chocolate in all shapes and forms. My favorite cookie is chocolate chip with walnuts, stuffed with Nutella and dusted with sea salt. Dark chocolate chips, naturally.
  2. I want to see as much of the world as possible. In my travels, I've climbed Vesuvius, Etna, Nea Kameni, and Kilauea, and I have personally tested the legend that whoever throws a coin into the Trevi Fountain will return to Rome. It's true.
  3. My cats are named Aya and Asami because I am an unapologetic Japanophile.
  4. My perfect day would be spent on the beach, sunning, swimming, doing acro yoga, capoeira, or gymnastics, and eating good food—especially fresh summer fruit.
  5. I am growing my hair out so I can donate some of it to be made into a wig for a child who doesn't have hair of their own.
  6. I love video games: especially JRPGs. I've played every Final Fantasy except XI and XIV. Of them all my favorite is Final Fantasy VI and I own versions on four different consoles.
  7. The number 7 is my favorite number.
